A lovely surprise to start the week with the first egg of the 2025 season for the Lanners of the Life Lanner project!

If this is already wonderful news, in these sunny days preparing us for spring, it’s even more important to know which pair it belongs to!

Let’s talk about it right away: Sirio is the father of Bianca and Bernie, the chicks born in 2023 from him and Penelope, who unfortunately passed away in the following autumn. A replacement was promptly found for Sirio, who, despite his efforts in courting her, never received a reproductive response.

Within a stock of specimens aimed at captive breeding, an already experienced male in mating and chick care is an important resource; this summer, a new female in perfect health was chosen, and since they met, they have never stopped exchanging attention.

A specific diet, the continuous attention of LIFE operators, along with the careful selection of specimens to form pairs, are fundamental, and today Athena has demonstrated it!

This is the first laying of her life, and it might not be the best brood, but it surely represents a good premise for the future.

She is clumsy, but already attentive to her precious egg, and in a little while, we will find out if they have… hit the mark!
