On 29 and 30 September, the final conference of the European LIFE LANNER project (LIFE18 NAT/IT/000720), entitled “Results and Future Perspectives for the Conservation of the Lanner Falcon in Italy”, took place in Viterbo.

Over the course of two days, participants engaged in discussions and in-depth exchanges to share the outcomes of six years of work, covering topics ranging from captive breeding and genetics to GPS monitoring, habitat management interventions, and collaboration among institutions and organisations committed to the conservation of the species.

The first day, hosted by the University of Tuscia, brought together project partners, researchers, public institutions, and environmental associations to review the achievements accomplished and discuss future perspectives for the conservation of the Lanner Falcon.
On the second day, a visit to the Wildlife Rescue Centre (CRAS) of the Monti Cimini Authority and the Marturanum Regional Natural Park provided participants with the opportunity to see firsthand some of the facilities and conservation actions implemented within the framework of the project.

The conference represented an important opportunity to share experiences and results, while also looking ahead to the challenges that still remain. It served as a reminder that the conclusion of a project does not mark the end of conservation efforts: the achievements attained provide a solid foundation on which to continue working for the future of the Lanner Falcon.
