LIFE LANNER at the “Perugia Biodiversity” Conference

We are pleased to announce the participation of the LIFE LANNER project in the 15th National Conference on Biodiversity and the 2nd International Conference on Mediterranean Biodiversity, held in Perugia from June 3 to 6, 2025. During the session Animal biodiversity hotspots and conservation strategies for endangered species, we had the opportunity to present a contribution entitled: “Genetic variability and differentiation of an endangered Mediterranean falcon (Falco biarmicus feldeggii) through a multi-marker approach: a support for conservation efforts.”

The presentation highlighted the results achieved so far within the LIFE project regarding the genetic study of the Lanner falcon, coordinated by our partner IZSLT. The analysis of 146 individuals enabled us to understand the genetic diversity of the species Falco biarmicus and its various subspecies found across the Mediterranean. This not only allows for reliable differentiation, but more importantly provides a solid scientific foundation to support European conservation policies. We thank the organizers and all participants for the opportunity to share knowledge and best practices for biodiversity protection.
