Lo scorso anno vi abbiamo raccontato il suo percorso, dalla nascita al raggiungimento dell\u2019autonomia. Dopo il rilascio aveva compiuto i lunghi spostamenti tipici dei giovani lanari: prima verso la Puglia, poi la Calabria e infine un lungo volo verso nord, fino a raggiungere il territorio parmense, dove aveva deciso di stabilirsi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purtroppo, a distanza di quasi un anno, Duna \u00e8 stata rinvenuta deceduta. Sono stati recuperati soltanto alcuni resti e il GPS. Le cause della morte non sono note: tra le possibili ipotesi vi \u00e8 la predazione da parte di un carnivoro arboricolo, come una martora o una faina, ma non esistono elementi per confermarlo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For months, Duna frequented the agricultural landscape of Casalbarbato (PR), an area rich in food resources and visited by numerous birds of prey. Her choice highlights an important aspect: the Lanner Falcon can find suitable habitat even outside the species\u2019 current core distribution, which today is concentrated in southern Italy, especially Sicily. Not by chance, until just a few decades ago, the Lanner Falcon also bred in several areas of central and northern Italy, from which it later disappeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each monitored individual helps us better understand how young falcons explore the landscape and which environments they select. Duna\u2019s journey is another valuable piece of knowledge that will help guide future conservation actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resta per\u00f2 alta l'attenzione verso una delle principali minacce per questa specie: le linee elettriche non messe in sicurezza. Nell'area frequentata da Duna erano presenti anche pali potenzialmente pericolosi e, sebbene non sia possibile collegarli alla sua morte, il rischio di elettrocuzione continua a rappresentare una causa documentata di mortalit\u00e0 per il lanario e per molti altri rapaci.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le informazioni raccolte durante il suo anno di libert\u00e0 continueranno ad accompagnare il nostro lavoro e a contribuire alla conservazione del falco lanario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
