Durante i rilasci dei lanari degli anni scorsi, ci siamo resi conto che la strumentazione disponibile sul mercato non era completamente adatta ai nostri scopi. Le radio VHF che si usano per rilievi \u201cin prossimit\u00e0\u201d sono risultate poco affidabili sul lungo termine a causa della loro durata limitata. I GPS invece soffrono il problema di poter inviare i dati solamente con intervalli lunghi, una o due volte al giorno al massimo, e solamente nei luoghi dove ci sia campo internet. Inoltre, nel caso in cui l'animale sia debilitato e sia necessario ricatturarlo, il VHF \u00e8 fondamentale per ritrovarlo in luoghi inospitali. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Technosmart Europe, una ditta specializzata nella produzione di strumenti di tracciamento di fauna selvatica, ha quindi preso in carico di realizzare uno strumento ibrido. Il nuovo strumento prodotto \u00e8 quindi l'unione di un VHF ed un GPS con trasmissione dati 4G. Il pannello solare presente sul GPS ricarica anche il VHF che quindi non presenta pi\u00f9 problemi di batteria. Questo dovrebbe portare in teoria il VHF a funzionare per anni. Inoltre, l'unione ha permesso di ridurre il peso degli strumenti, da 18g a 11g, fondamentale per poter monitorare i pi\u00f9 piccoli maschi di lanario e non disturbarli troppo durante il volo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tutti i prossimi rilasci utilizzeranno questi nuovi strumenti, decisamente molto pi\u00f9 comodi e funzionali dei tradizionali GPS 4G utilizzati fino ad ora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
