Physiological conditions of our lanners
Our first LIFE Lanner project update is about the physiological condition of the lanner falcons in our aviaries at the wildlife rescue centre “CRAS Lago di Vico”.
On July 24, endoscopies were carried out on our six captive individuals by doctor Marco Martini of the veterinary hospital S. Carlo di Spesiano (TV), a specialist in this field.
The goal was to evaluate the physiological conditions of the birds’ reproductive system. Furthermore, cloacal swabs were taken to check for the presence of harmful bacteria.
All examinations produced good results, except for the oldest female which was found to have a low number of follicles on her ovaries.
